I noticed Star mention a speeding ticket in another thread. That reminded me of a woman I work with getting four in two years. The result was that her insurance was going to be so high, she was considering giving up the car, which was also awkward because she was leasing it.

Have you ever had trouble like that because of traffic tickets?

I don't think that four in two years is alot personally. I have seen much more but I think that speeders should get their license taken away because it can become deathly if they were to hit someone.

I'm sure there are much worse examples than that out there, but apparently here in Canada that's the "magic number" for insurance companies to increase your rate through the roof.

Yeah I know insurance companies look for something of that nature just to heighten insurance policies.

Wow, I have never heard of that. I rarely get speeding tickets.. my problem is stopping long enough at stop signs.

Insurance companies should be an entire thread on its own, how they are always find new ways to charge us more.

I think there's a fairly new law in Ontario that says if you're caught going 50 kms over the speed limit, you lose the vehicle.

I personally haven't but my husband has. It did raise his insurance rate and he ended up getting points on his liscense. Being in a car club that would street race didn't help. However, the last few years he hasn't been speeding....at least not like he was.All the points are off his liscense and our insurance rate dropped like crazy. Alot of things factored into that though. We were orginally paying over 200.00 a month. Now it dropped to like 70.00.

I also don't think thats alot of speeding tickets. But, considering it's in another area it could be for there.
