Just inherited a Camry 1800cc 1985 a beautiful model that runs like a dream until it reaches 70mph then it starts to overheat & the temp gauge turns into a rev counter, drop speed to 65 & temp drops, stop after a normal drive through town temp stays normal but once it stops, engine off, you can hear/see the water boiling in the header tank although no loss of water. On a long drive you do loss water, have flushed out radiator even soaked the whole thing o/night in cleaner til it ran smooth and clear refilled as described in book.
Looking at different reasons from thermostat, engine block blockage to water pump wondering if there could be other reasons.....
