I was thinking of painting the muffler black on my girlfriends 2008 Venza before it starts to rust and just so it will blend in with the under side of the car better. Whats the best way to do this and what products should I use? I'm thinking I should sand it and put 3 coats of some heat resistant paint on it.

You would have to use high temperature paint, like the kind they use on charcoal grills. It's usually flat or satin black. Some people used to do this sort of thing on cars when they got new exhaust systems a long time ago, but I wouldn't do it on any new cars. Many new cars have aluminized steel exhaust systems. The thin coating of aluminum won't rust and keeps the exhaust looking new.
